The International Country Risk Guide: Some Findings from the May Issue

New ICRG data and risk ratings have come in for May.  Here are some surprising and not-so-surprising findings

• Saudi Arabia now has the best political risk score in the region, besting UAE and Qatar.
• Europe as a region has improved over the past several months as uncertain elections have produced workable coalitions and (sometimes) unexpected electoral victories.
• The political risk rating of the US is at its lowest (highest risk) since 2022.
• Some of the military juntas in Africa enjoy considerable popular support.
• Most currencies have stabilized against the USD.
